Patches of Land

Patches of Land is 100, two minute radio features, supported by the Audio Content Fund and broadcast on community radio stations Soundart Radio, Phonic FM, Radio St Austell Bay, Radio Scilly and The Source.

Exquisitely small stories, each one a different perspective on our relationship with the land throughout Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. From coast to moor, from lifelong residents to new arrivals, the places that are special to each of us told in everyday words and sounds. Fragmentary broadcasts, that can be assembled in any order to create meaningful longer programmes, or used as segments or fillers at any time of day. Each ‘patch’ begins and ends with a distinctive musical phrase, composed from Ordnance Survey grid references, that joins seamlessly to any other patch, performed by Neil Maya on clarinet and Pat Butterly on double bass.

Produced by Alice Armstrong and Lucinda Guy at Stellaria Media.
